How to link your Xbox gamertag to Duck or Beef

Published September 8, 2026

To link your Xbox gamertag to Duck or Beef, sign in with a one-time email code, type your gamertag, check that the card that comes up is you, and tap THAT’S ME. Your achievement progress starts syncing straight away. Then check Trophies for synced progress. Manual check-offs remain self-reported.

Type the gamertag whose achievements you want to track. Duck or Beef shows an IS THIS YOU? card for that account. If it is yours, tap THAT’S ME; if not, try again with the right gamertag. No code is needed to link.

Follow an example linking attempt

This example uses @example as a placeholder for the player, not as an Xbox account to enter.

When you need to prove it’s yours

You only prove the gamertag is yours when it matters: to join a public board, play for a prize, or if someone else claims the same gamertag. Whoever proves a gamertag with the code keeps it.

Duck or Beef gives you a four-digit code. Put it in that gamertag’s Xbox Bio (Profile → Customize profile → Bio), save, then tap Verify. The code works for 15 minutes, and you can delete it from your Bio straight after. Your profile details have to be visible to everyone while the check runs.

The Bio code is an ownership step. It is separate from the one-time email code used to sign in.

Check the failed step before repeating setup

If the IS THIS YOU? card does not show your account, recheck the gamertag’s spelling. If verification has not completed, recheck the code and whether the edited Xbox Bio was saved and is visible to everyone. These checks address the information you entered; they do not establish that syncing has finished.

If linking has completed but an unlock is missing from Trophies, treat that as a progress-sync question. Linking and syncing are different steps, so a newly linked account is not proof that every recent unlock is already reflected. Do not manually check an achievement and describe that action as platform verification.
